Kim is a partner in the Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice group at Taft Stettinius & Hollister, LLP’s Detroit, Michigan offices where she serves a diverse client portfolio in the areas of insolvency law, creditors’ rights, business law and health law. Kim has a national practice representing clients on creditor rights in bankruptcy matters and bankruptcy-related litigation. She also advises financially distressed companies and nonprofit organizations in bankruptcy restructuring, out-of-court wind ups and dissolutions. She was appointed and presently serves as a Subchapter V Trustee in the Eastern District of Michigan under the Small business Reorganization Act of 2019. Kim is the author of Chapter 15 , “Bankruptcy Adversary Proceedings” of the Michigan Causes of Action Form Book (2022 and 2024 Editions) published by ICLE (Michigan). She is a frequent presenter and panelist on bankruptcy and healthcare topics at national and regional professional seminars. Kim was recognized as a 2023 Michigan Lawyers Weekly Leaders in the Law and in 2024 she was a co-recipient of the Turnaround Management Association, Detroit Chapter, Transaction of the Year in connection with her firm’s representation of the general unsecured creditors’ committee in the medical testing laboratory bankruptcy of Ark Laboratory, LLC. In 2006, Kim graduated law school from the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Law where she served on the Moot Court Board of Advocates and achieved the 2004 book award in legal research and writing. Prior to law school, Kim earned her bachelors of arts in international relations with an emphasis in economics from James Madison College at Michigan State University in 2002.
