Frank J. Kokoszka graduated from Loyola University of Chicago in 1986 with a B.A, Honors, in Political Science and English, and then from Duke University School of Law in 1989.
He is the Senior Partner of Kokoszka & Janczur, P.C. practicing primarily bankruptcy/creditors’ rights, commercial and civil litigation.
He was appointed to the Panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2014. He has experience as a Disbursing Agent and Assignee for the Benefit of Creditors. He has also been retained as an expert witness on bankruptcy law and practice. He has also served as an Arbitrator (Chair Qualified) for Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Program since 1994.
Frank, a veteran minnow having fearlessly appeared before the NABT Ethics Shark Tank, has been a speaker and presenter on many other occasions including at the invitation of the Polish Ministry of Justice to be a Guest Speaker at the International Conference on “Insolvency of Natural Persons – A Regulatory Framework and Its Efficiency” held in Warsaw, Poland in December 2017. Some of his other presentations include “Trial Techniques” at a Chicago Bar Association Seminar on Commercial Litigation; “Not Your Usual, Everyday Assets and Objections to Exemptions” for the DuPage County Bar Association Bankruptcy Law Committee; “Representing Defendants in Consumer Fraud Cases” for the Chicago Bar Association Consumer Fraud Committee; “Changes in Bankruptcy Law: What the General Practice Attorney Needs to Know” for the Advocates Society (Polish-American Bar Association); and, Panel Speaker for the CBA Bankruptcy Committee on “7th Circuit Bankruptcy Cases – Year in Review.”
He has also served as Adjunct Instructor of Business Law at Kendall College in Evanston, Illinois; Chapter 7 Trustee Advisory Committee for the Northern District of Illinois (2017-2020); Mentor for the Chicago Bar Association Attorney Mentoring Program (2013-2014; 2017-2018); Co-Chair for CBA Corporate Law Departments Committee (2005- 2010); Vice-Chair for CBA Corporate Law Departments Committee (2004-2005), Vice-Chair for CBA Sports Law Committee (2002-2004); Founding Chair for CBA\YLS Consumer Fraud Committee; and Chair Emeritus for Amicus Polonae Polish Legal Clinic (CVLS Polish Language Clinic). He has been chosen among Illinois Super Lawyers in Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights from 2007-2024.
Frank, who speaks Polish, was chosen as first as a Delegate to the 49th Convention of the Polish National Alliance of the U.S. (2023), then as the Chair of the Pre-Convention Committee on Laws and By-Laws for the 49th Convention of the Polish National Alliance and finally as Vice- Chair of the 49th Convention of the Polish National Alliance of the U.S.
Frank enjoys music (Classic Rock and Yacht Rock) and tries to attend several concerts and music fests each year. Also, an avid sports fan, he’s a season ticket holder of the Loyola Chicago Ramblers, and attends many Chicago White Sox games, Chicago Blackhawks games and Chicago Bears games. He tries to travel to Durham, North Carolina several times a year to attend as many Duke University sporting events as possible. Frank has also enjoyed volunteering for the Chicago White Sox Volunteer Corps, of which he has been a member since 2010 and with the Duke Club of Chicago.
